This year I have been so focused on growing my business, Email Made Easy, that I haven’t blogged as much as I would like. I miss it. So, this next year –you will be hearing more from me. In the meantime I wanted to share this post because my husband is an amazing gift giver and he’s gotten me some awesome writerly gifts over the years.

The gifts have ranged from writer’s retreats to shirts advertising to the world that I’m a writerly-nerd and proud of it. So, here are a few gifts I guarantee will please.

My FAVORITE Pen!

I legit love this pen. It’s my go-to if I need to do some serious journaling because I need a pen that can keep up with my brain. The point isn’t too sharp to catch on pages, the ink always flows smoothly, and it feels like an extension of me when I write. I’m always searching for this pen — as a writer, I have MANY pens, but this one is the best.

My FAVORITE Eyemask!

I love to fall asleep to stories. It’s better for my sleep cycle than TV and is more interesting to me than music. I love THIS mask because there is space for my eyes (and long eyelashes), the speakers shift so they are truly over my ears, and it’s an excellent mask for side-sleepers. This mask also comes in a variety of colors and it’s SOFT.

My FAVORITE Shampoo and Conditioner!

I don’t know about you, but I used the pandemic to rid my hair of all the dyes I’d exposed it to since I was 16. I love the new little silver-ish stripes in my hair. This apple cider vinegar shampoo and conditioner always leaves my hair feeling clean, healthy, and shiny. And, when I’m fresh the words flow more quickly.  I usually deal with dry scalp in the fall and spring –and my scalp has been so healthy. It’s free of all those nasty things hairstylists warn you about: sulfates, dyes, and parabens.

Literature Scarves –they are ALL my favorite!

Okay, so I don’t have one of these. But, it’s totally a bucket-list clothing item. If you’re a writer and you want to REPRESENT — this one is so cute. I saw Jane Austen ones, Harry Potter scarves, T-shirts, blankets… I just really love the idea of being encased in words.

Writerly Gloves are my new Favorite:

I didn’t know these existed until I was today-years-old. I love Tinker Bell and the color is such a soft green. I even found Writing Gloves in the same color and theme.

MY FAVORITE MUGS

My husband and I celebrated 14 years, and apparently, it was the mug anniversary. He got me this one, and I got him one of a Sasquatch in the forest.

Yes, I am writing a novel… and watch out because I will cast you in it. You might not have the same eye color or the same name… but, it will be you.

The First Line of Famous Novels

I have this mug too. Can you say spoiled? I picked it up at a local bookstore because it was clearance out.

The Last Line of Famous Novels

Here is another version with the last lines of famous novels. What a fun set to have on the shelf. Do you prefer the end or the beginning of a story?

Now, what pairs better with a mug of something warm than a book.

My FAVORITE Christmas books

Counting Up to Christmas

One of my dearest friends wrote a book last year and it is lovely. If you want to spend a little time this Holiday season pouring over God’s greatest gift this is an excellent read. It’s filled with her first-hand experiences in Israel, songs, and well-loved recipes.

Christmas Project Planner

Kathi knows how to organize as well as she knows how to declutter. I love this book because it helped me determine what I want out of the season and set reasonable expectations. Get this if you want a lovely, guilt-free Christmas.

25 Days of Jesus

I have some seriously talented friends. My other friend Jennifer (maybe there is something to that name?) wrote an advent book to help tune us into the life of Jesus. As a former public school teacher Jen has focused on family gatherings with short lessons to hold short attention spans. This book also has well-loved songs and recipes.

Gifts: A Christmas Novella

I am currently reading this sweet novella. It’s the perfect-sized book for this season. If it was a full novel I probably wouldn’t attempt it, but since it’s small I think I stand a chance of finishing it before Christmas. It has ALL the Christmas underpinnings and a fun story.

Okay, this is all I’ve got for you. I wanted you, or the people in your life who know you, to have some of these Christmas gift ideas at the ready. I have learned so much this year and have dug deep into my writing life more than ever. This is in part because of the amazing internship I’ve been a part of with my friend and mentor Kathi Lipp, and because of her Writing at the Red House Collective. I plan to tell you all about it in my next post!

Merry Christmas!
